Programme Blacks and Whites Carnival in Pasto

Pasto, ready for Carnival Black and White Viva

Pre-carnival from 29 December to 3 January and the main festivities from 4 to 7 January.

Considered the expression of popular culture of southwestern Colombia, the Carnival of Pasto or Black and White Carnival meets every year to own and tourists in a festival of culture, art, games and ancient traditions blending old indigenous rituals, masquerades and bustle of mestizo origin, with English culture that dominated the region and created the syncretism that is breathed in the carnival.

The celebrations begin with the Pre-carnival ranging from December 27 until January 3. The traditional Carnival is developed on 4, 5 and 6 January and ending on day 7 with the festival of the guinea pig and rural culture.

December 27 begin the Pre-carnival event with Youth Music and Alternative. On 30 December, the serenade Pasto, Nariño's Square, from 5 pm, which is recognized by the country's string trios. Pre-carnival closes its program on December 31 with the parade of years old.

January 2

January 3 star

January 4

Large musical activities began with the opening of Tablados Popular in Nariño Park , Plaza del Carnaval and the Santiago church square, ranging up to the last day of carnival.

January 5 is the day of the Black Pintica.

January 6
White Day. It is the great day of the holidays. The path of the Carnival or sleep at night because from very early hours thousands of people flow to have a suitable position that will allow them to see the best parade floats.

January 7
The carnival culminates with flavor and tradition. In the village of Obonuco, located in the foothills of Galeras Volcano , the Festival of the Cuy allows the auction of one-day carnival with regional cuisine and folk music concerts. The event also presents a sample of these animals.
