Carnival of Blacks and Whites was declared cultural heritage of the nation Congress of the Republic of Colombia in April 2002, is celebrated primarily in Pasto Nariño and other municipalities from 4 to 6 January each year and attracts a considerable number of tourists from all over the country. The carnival consists of four major stages, namely pre-carnival, the carnival, the arrival of the Castaneda family, the days of black and finally the day of the whites.
